The Free Cities
The Free Cities are the alliance of races created by the Gods Above. Some of the first races on the continent, they have thrived under the resource abundant western world, developing city-states and nations. However, this abundance has led to arrogance among the races, resulting in in-fighting and mistrust between many of the members. Only their eternal struggle with the Resolute has maintained their alliance. The Free Cities consist of the humans, the Landrian Elves, the Mountain Dwarves, the Wispians, the Godborn, and the Gnomes.
Humans
Home City: Eastwood
The humans were created after the elves and dwarves but are the most numerous people in the Free Cities. They are some of the wealthiest members of society, developing fast trade routes from the Khalindor desert, to the western sea. Their primary kingdom is that of Dustwind, filled with nobles and lords all ruled by the Anduin’s heirs in the capital of Eastwood.
Leerian Elves
Home City: Leeria
Created by the queen of the gods herself, the Leerian Elves are the oldest race in the world of Valandria. Their beauty and affinity to magic, have cemented their legacy in history. However, their perfection has led them to close their borders to their allies, only venturing out as soldiers or magicians to serve in the war against the Resolute. They are led by their eighth queen, seated in her throne within the mystical city-state of Leeria.
Mountain Dwarves
Home City: Baldrak Mines
The mountain dwarves are nearly as old as the elves both in the creation of their people and their lifespans. While the elves settled in the trees, the dwarves were made for the rugged security of the mountains. Filled with metal and riches, the dwarves’ humble mines quickly expanded into an empire of trade. Any who wish to cross through mountain paths now seek out the dwarves who guard such travel.
Wispians
Home City: Mystwood
Wispians were once wondering spirits of the forest. When the gods parted the world, those spirits were given physical form so they could watch over all nature in the world of Valandria. They were small things, barely taller than a gnome, with wings and ability to commune with all beasts of the natural world. They created a bustling series of villages within the Living Forest, a protected forest filled with all wildlife to ever exist in Valandria.
Gnomes
Home City: None
Gnomes are a race who have never been claimed by a god. For this reason, they tend to lack faith in the gods, resulting in a lack of any magical affinity. However, they make up for this with keen intellect and sticky fingers. They are interspersed throughout the Free Cities, with no true civilization or world to call home of their own.
The Resolute
When Aelandria created the elves, Darthos responded with a breed of his own. Soon, every creation of the Gods Above was met by a creation of the Gods Below. These new races centered their society around strict order and strength, echoing the ideals of their creators. However, they were left with the barren lands of the east, forced to fend for themselves in rugged deserts, steppes, and wastelands. They seek war against the Free Cities, in hopes of claiming the continent and all the riches it has to offer for themselves. These races consist of the Darthian Elves, Frostfang orcs, Uth’Gari trolls, the Nightwalkers, and the Dragonians.
Darthian Elves
Home City: Forgotten City
Apart from their dark skin tones, the Darthian elves resemble their counterpart Leerian Elves in every way. With a natural affinity to magic and speed, they are key warriors and magicians in the Resolutes military. However, early struggles placed upon them by Aelandria milenia before forced them to fend for themselves in the wastelands. Their home is an underground city of power, who’s name was lost during the God’s great departure.
Uth’Gari Trolls
Home City: Uth’Gari
The trolls were once rock, given life and purpose. Far off in the norther part of the world, surrounded by the Uth’Gaari mountains, the trolls developed tribes and mystical powers. They were one of the strongest races when the orcs requested their alliance, and they continue to grow in power as their home atop R’ath Gar remains unscathed by the eternal war.
Nightwalkers
Home City: Huntstown
Long ago, a human travelling crew were set out to form a new colony in the Fenris Swamps. They were met by great evil shrouded in mist. Desperate to survive, the humans created a magical pact that granted them enhanced strength, vision, and speed. The cost: their bodies forever resembled the animals whose power they gained. When they finally settled down in the city of Huntstown, they were banished from the Free Cities, deemed abominations. Enrage and alone, they found refuge in the Resolute.
Frostfang Orcs
Home City: Frost Fang Caverns
With iron wills and a lust for survival and power, the orcs made out their homes in the harsh winter lands. They created a city in the mountains where they grew strong, slaying a dragon and claiming its icy cavern as their own. They thrive on their commitment to strength and loyalty among their people.
Dragonians
Home City: Kharo’Mok
Dragonians developed society as strict and powerful as their own bodies. Humanoid dragons, they created a militaristic society centered around law and order of the harshest design. They have grown to be the backbone of the Resolute’s military, and the greatest threat to all opposition on the battlefield.
