The Pantheon

The pantheon of Valandria is divided in two between the eight Gods Above and the seven Gods Below. The names of the gods, as well as a brief description of what they represent to the mortal realm, can be found below.

The Gods Above

The first faction of gods lay on the upper most point on the planes of existence. These gods, known The Gods Above, consist of eight different gods, all dedicated to various ideals of order and justice.

  • Aelandria, Queen of the Gods
    • Sigil: A crescent moon of bright blue
    • Of all the gods, Aelandria reigns as the strongest among them. She is the queen of all gods, and is the creator of elves and the fabric of magic itself within the mortal world. The continent of Valandria originated from her creation of life, which inspired further creation from the other gods among her surface, and even those who oppose her. While many gods worship her and follow in her path, she rarely grants gifts to the mortal world and has never, on record, accepted oaths of any kind.
  • Syldrian, God of Justice
    • Sigil: A golden scale with a sword at its center
    • Sildrian is Aelandria’s youngest brother, and one of her greatest champions. Legend says he trained the first sword users in Valandria and has stood toe to toe with every god that ever dared cross him. A stout defender of justice and order, many paladins now swear their oaths and dedication to him.
  • Neymaria, Mother Nature
    • Sigil: A silver rose
    • Neymaria is the goddess of nature, or mother earth as many in the mortal realms have come to call her. She created a vast range of wildlife in the world, including the mysterious Wispian race. While she is part of the pantheon most notably worshiped by the Free Cities, she accepts all lovers of nature so long as they swear to protect all life.
  • Paedrian, God of the seas
    • Sigil: Two sharks forming a perfect circle with one another
    • While most gods strove to follow Aelandria and thrive on land, Paedrian found joy in the ocean waters. He created fish life that rivaled the diversity and craftiness of his wife, Neymaria. All seafaring men and women offer him prayers before attempting to venture out into his domain.
  • Syllia, Goddess of Passion
    • Sigil: A Red flame over a field of pure white
    • Syllia found interest in the emotions that existed among mortals and became obsessed with their passion. Most notably, she blessed many with the gift of love and all the joy and pain that came with it. There are those that follow her devotely, and others who find her allure atrocious. Yet among all the gods, her power is second only to the heads of the factions, Alexandria and Darthos, themselves.
  • Vorrian, God of Unity
    • Sigil: A three-pointed eternal knot
    • Vorrian is the god of strength and, above all else, the god of unity. He crafted the humans with many flaws, knowing full well that their commitment and unification would one day overwhelm the continent. Unfortunately, it would take thousands of years for his first true champion to arise, and even then, the man left the mortal realm all too soon. Many paladin’s find Vorrian to be a righteous god to follow, often emphasizing the needs of the community before one’s self.
  • Valdria, Goddess of Wisdom
    • Sigil: An owl’s wing
    • The only child of Aelandria, she is blessed with her mother’s smarts and creativity. However, being born into eternal conflict forced her to adapt to war. She instilled such knowledge on the Free Cities, teaching them battle strategy and tactics that would aid them for centuries. Her most devout followers are rumored to reside in a mythical city somewhere along the southernmost coast of the continent.
  • Mordian, God of Earth
    • Sigil: A solid clenched fist
    • Mordian is one of the oldest gods. He quickly found pleasure in the great earth Aelandria created and found himself spending bountiful amounts of time there. Before parting, he created the dwarves, a clear example of his strength, ingenuity, and ungodly stubbornness.

The Gods Below

The second faction of gods lies on the bottom of the theoretical planes of existence. While the Gods Above champion order and justice, the Gods Below took a different approach. They are champions of freedom and strength, believing all else will fall into line afterwards. They consist of seven different gods, outlined below.

  • Darthos, God of Magic
    • Sigil: A black sun over a field of red
    • Darthos is the only god known in existence with power to rival that of his twin, the goddess Aelandria. A self-proclaimed king, he led a faction of gods that splintered from the original pantheon. He is known as the god of magic, and created the dark elves, a near replica of the elves his sister crafted. Legend says the gods were banned due primarily to the squabble between he and sister, though the world will never know the truth of such tales.
  • Reyalla, Goddess of Storms
    • Sigil: A golden cross
    • Reyalla is the goddess of the elements and storms, and lover of Darthos. She dominates the strongest parts of nature, believing the horrid storms and rugged mountains would forge strength among mortals. Her creation, the trolls of Uth’Garrii, are a prime example of her values: strong as the mountains, and ferocious as the storms themselves.
  • Bromthos, God of War
    • Sigil: An Arrow of Red pointing up
    • Bromthos saw that the creations of the Gods Below were being overrun after Valdria’s meddling. Thus, he took to countering her every move, teaching the mortals tactics to fight their own wars. As such, he is worshiped by many in the Resolute as the god of war, though he will aid any who ask for his blessings in battle.
  • Veilalla, Goddess of the Dead
    • Sigil: A Black rose
    • Mortals were never meant to last forever. Taking pity on them. Veilalla created a realm where those lost souls could find eternal peace. While some of the mortal realm fear her creations, those of the Resolute are grateful for her blessings. Occasionally, she may grant a chosen soul a chance at redemption should their will be strong enough to serve as a weapon of her own in the mortal realm.
  • Tharos, God of Will
    • If one wills it, then it should come to be. That is the belief that the god, Tharos, hold dearest to his heart. Only those with the strongest of heart and greatest determination are able to win over his blessing. It is this will for revenge that led him to bless the Nightwalkers, becoming their patron god.
  • Varros, God of Honor
    • Sigil: A silver sword over a blue shield
    • While Valdria is the child of Aelandria, Varros is the child of Darthos. He champions honor above all else, gaining many followers among some of the greatest warriors to ever walk among the Resolute. He created the Dragonians as a shining example of his belief of honor.
  • Seyalla, Goddess of Power
    • Sigil: An Anvil
    • Seyalla is the goddess of power in all forms. Whatever one strives to be good at, they should strive to be the best at it. Many craftsmen and masters of all varieties worship her presence. Often many armies or soldiers will pray for her blessings before entering battle, or engaging in a duel of any kind.
